Who can do it

Every member, in the Tounes app on a phone or tablet, for an event they said they are coming to. You need no role.

Singing Mode offers itself when all of this is true:

  • the event is a rehearsal, an intensive, a concert, a performance or a workshop;
  • it is still scheduled (not cancelled or postponed);
  • it has a playlist with songs;
  • you replied Yes;
  • the event is on: from its arrival time (or its start, when it has none) until its end.

Singing Mode only shows when your choir has it switched on, in Manage › Settings.

How to

Switch to Singing Mode

  1. When the event is on, a banner at the top of the app says "Seems you may be attending an event. Want to switch to Singing Mode?". Tap Switch.
  2. Or open the event in Calendar: the Singing Mode card has the same Switch button.
  3. Every score of the event's playlist opens as one document, in the playlist's order. A song with no score shows a page with its title, "No score for this song", so the order stays right.
  4. Your screen stays on while Singing Mode is open.

Find your way

  1. Read the scores as a scroll, or tap the reading mode button to turn pages one at a time.
  2. Tap Songs to see the playlist, the song in view marked. Tap a song to jump to its first page.
  3. Your own markings show, and you can mark up the scores as usual (see Mark up your score). Tapping a bar never plays music here.
  4. To leave, tap Songs, then Exit Singing Mode.

Not now

  1. Tap Dismiss on the banner: it stays hidden for that event on this device.
  2. Changed your mind? Open the event in Calendar and tap Switch on its card.

Get ready the day before

  1. From 24 hours before the event, each time you open the app with a connection, Tounes saves the playlist's scores and your markings on your device.
  2. Open Tounes once with a connection the day before or on your way, and Singing Mode opens even where the hall has no internet.

On the web and in the apps

Singing Mode is only in the iPhone, iPad and Android apps: it puts the scores together on your device, and the web has no place to keep them. On the web there is no banner and no card on the event. You can still open each score from Music.
