Who can do it
Every member, from Home. You need no role. The answers only use what you can already see in Tounes: the choir's events, your own replies and your own practice, the homework, the articles and documents you can open, your tasks, surveys, dues, ride and room, your practice goal and streak, and who holds which position (only when your choir has the Community switched on).
The ask box only shows when your choir has the Ask box feature switched on, in Manage › Settings › Features.
How to
Ask
- On Home, type your question in Ask a question and tap Send. Or tap one of the examples under Try asking.
- A panel opens with your question, then Thinking…, then the answer.
- Answers carry buttons that take you where the answer comes from: Open in Calendar for an event, Change my answer for your reply to it, or the song, article or document it names.
- Closed the panel? Tap Show the answer to open it again, or Clear to start over.
What you can ask
- When and where the next rehearsals and concerts are, and at what time one starts.
- What to learn for a rehearsal, and when a piece must be known by heart.
- What the choir sings at a concert.
- Whether you said you're coming, and what you have or haven't practised.
- What tasks you took on, for one event or all of them.
- Which surveys are open that you haven't answered yet: tap one to answer it.
- What you owe in dues and what you have paid: the answer opens My dues.
- Your ride or your room for an event, such as "who's driving me to the concert?".
- Your practice streak, and how many minutes are left to reach today's goal: the answer opens My practice.
- Who the treasurer is, or who sits on the board.
- Where an article or a document is, such as the FAQ on parking or the bylaws.
Each of these needs its feature switched on for your choir; if it's off, the answer says so. The ask box only reads: it can't book a ride, take a task or answer a survey for you.
When the answer isn't right
- One question at a time, up to 500 characters.
- If Tounes didn't understand, it says so and shows example questions: tap one, or ask again in other words.
- A question Tounes can't read on its own goes to the assistant, which draws on a monthly allowance that comes with your choir's plan, the Free plan included. When the allowance runs out, Tounes answers as if it hadn't understood until the next month: the example questions still work.
- The assistant can misunderstand a question. Check important details, such as a time or an address, in the Calendar.
- Tounes keeps the questions asked for 90 days, then deletes them.
On the web and in the apps
The ask box works the same in a browser and in the apps. In the iPhone and Android apps you can also ask Siri or Gemini to "ask the choir": the Tounes app opens with your question in the ask box. See Ask Siri or Gemini.
