Siri and Gemini can do three things with Tounes: tell you the next event, reply to it for you, and open a question in the app. They answer only for you and only for the choir you're in right now.

Who can do it

Every member who uses the Tounes app on an iPhone or an Android phone and is signed in. You need no role.

Your choir must have voice shortcuts switched on. When it is off, Siri and Gemini answer "Your choir has not turned on voice shortcuts. Open Tounes instead." Asking a question also needs the choir's ask box.

How to

Hear the next event

  1. Say "When is my next rehearsal in Tounes?", "What's next in Tounes?" or "Next event in Tounes".
  2. Siri or Gemini tells you the next event's name, day and time, and the venue when there is one. It is the next event of any kind, not only rehearsals.

Reply to it

  1. Say "RSVP in Tounes", then choose Attending or Not attending. On an iPhone you can also say it in one go: "Reply attending to my next event in Tounes".
  2. You hear "Done. You are attending…" and your reply is recorded, as if you had answered in the app. The next time you open Tounes, Home shows it.
  3. Only your answer changes. Guests you set in the app stay while you're attending, and a reason you gave stays while you're not attending.
  4. "There is nothing to reply to right now" means replies to that event are closed, or there is no upcoming event. To add guests or a reason, or to answer Maybe, reply in the app (see Calendar and replies).

Ask the choir a question

  1. Say "Ask the choir in Tounes" or "Ask Tounes a question", then say your question.
  2. Siri opens Tounes and puts your question in the ask box on Home, where the answer appears. Gemini tells you to open Tounes, and your question is waiting there when you do.
  3. Siri and Gemini never answer questions about the choir themselves: the answer always comes from the app (see Ask a question).

When something goes wrong

  1. "Open Tounes and sign in first": you're signed out of the app. Sign in, open Home once, then ask again.
  2. The answer seems old: Siri and Gemini read what the app last loaded. Open Tounes so Home reloads, then ask again.

On the web and in the apps

Voice shortcuts are not on the web: only in the iPhone and Android apps.

  • iPhone: Siri, with iOS 17 or later. Nothing to set up: the phrases work in English and in French ("Quand est ma prochaine répétition dans Tounes ?").
  • Android: Gemini, with Android 16 or later, and only on the devices and in the regions where Google lets Gemini use other apps. Gemini answers in your phone's language. The older Google Assistant is not supported.
