A group gathers some members for a shared purpose: the board, a committee, a small ensemble. Its members receive what is sent to the group, and its leaders look after it.
Who can do it
The Director and the Tenant Admin create groups and manage every one of them, in Manage › Groups. Your choir may also have given this work to a role of its own. This area only shows when the choir has Audience groups switched on in Manage › Settings.
Whoever creates a group becomes its first leader. A Group Leader looks after their own group only, in Manage › Groups, where the list shows the groups they lead: its details, members and leaders, and deleting it. Creating a group stays with the Director and the Tenant Admin. Every person in a group holds that group's Group Member role. Any active Member can join or leave a group that is open to everyone, from the Community.
How to
Create a group
- In Manage › Groups, tap New group.
- Give it a Name, a Description if you like, and a Type: Board, Committee, Interest group, Event-specific or Custom.
- Turn on Discoverable if members may find and join it themselves. Tap Create.
Choose its members and leaders
- Open the group and tap Add members under Members.
- Tap the star beside someone to Make leader, or again to Remove as leader. Leaders are listed first.
- Tap Remove from group to take someone out. A member who joined through a position reads "via a position": ending their term takes them out.
- A group keeps at least one leader. If you don't manage every group, make someone else leader before the last one steps down.
- To change the name, description, type or Discoverable, tap Edit under Details.
Join or leave a group (every member)
- Open Community › Groups and pick a group.
- Tap Join to receive what is sent to the group, or Leave. Its leaders are told.
- Only active members can join. A group that isn't discoverable shows only to the people in it: ask its leader or a director to add you.
Delete a group
- Open the group and choose Delete group in its menu. Its members lose what the group gave them.
A position can also put its holder in a group for the length of the term: see Roles and positions.
