Share a ride

Who can do it

Every member the event is meant for can offer a ride or ask for one, for themselves. Your offer and your request are yours: only you change them. The Director and the Tenant Admin can remove anyone's, from the event in Manage.

Rides show only on events marked Needs transportation. Whoever edits the event turns it on: the Director and the Tenant Admin, or a Section Leader for their own section's events. Your choir may also have its own roles, under other names, that allow this. Ride sharing must also be switched on for your choir.

How to

Turn it on for an event (organizers)

1. In Manage › Events, open the event. In its Ride sharing panel, switch on Needs transportation.
2. A Rides section now shows on the event for its members. Directors see it in the same panel, with every rider's and driver's address.

Offer a ride

1. Open the event in the Calendar tab and find Rides. Tap Offer a ride.
2. Choose I drive to the event, I drive back, or both, with the time you leave each way, the Seats for riders (up to 8), your Departure address and a note if you like. Save.
3. Tap Find riders: Tounes lists the requests that fit your offer under Riders near your departure, nearest first, with their distance only. Times must be within 30 minutes of yours. Other requests lists the rest that go your way.
4. Tap Invite beside a rider. When they accept, they show as On board under Your riders.
5. Someone asked you? Accept or decline them under Your riders.

Ask for a ride

1. On the event, tap Ask for a ride. Choose I need a ride there, I need a ride back, or both, with your times and departure address. Save.
2. Under Rides offered, tap Ask beside a driver who goes your way and has a seat free.
3. A driver invited you? Accept or decline under Your drivers.

Who sees your address

1. A driver sees your address once you asked them or they invited you. You see a driver's address once they invited you or accepted your ask. Until then it reads Address shown once the ride is agreed.
2. A declined or cancelled ride shows nothing. Directors can see every address.

Change your mind

1. Edit or Delete your offer or request. If you delete an offer, its riders are told their ride is cancelled; if you delete a request, your drivers are told.
2. To leave one ride, tap Cancel this ride beside it. Either side can.
3. Changing the time or address of your offer keeps your riders on board, and they are told.

Remove someone's offer or request (directors)

1. In Manage › Events, open the event and its Ride sharing panel.
2. Tap the bin beside a driver under Rides offered (Remove offer), or beside a rider under Ride requests (Remove request). Tounes asks you to confirm.
3. The person is told you removed it. Riders on a removed offer are told their ride is cancelled; drivers of a removed request are told too.

Save time next time

1. Open Settings, in the menu at the top of Home, and fill in Rides: I have a car, your Seats for riders and your Usual departure address. Tounes prefills your offers and requests with them. No one else sees them.

When an event is cancelled, or no longer needs transportation, its rides close and everyone on them is told. When it is postponed, the rides move with it. Once the event is over, rides can no longer change.

On the web and in the apps

On the web, the departure address is looked up with OpenStreetMap, and you can tap Use my current location (your browser asks first). In the iPhone and Android apps, the address is looked up by your phone, and there is no current-location button: type the address.
