Member statuses

On this page
Every member has a status. It decides whether they can open the choir in Tounes, whether they hear from it, and whether they owe dues.
Who can do it
The Director and the Tenant Admin change a member's status and mark someone as staff, in Manage › Choristers and Staff. The history of status changes shows to the Tenant Admin and the Privacy Officer, and to any role your choir gives that right: that right alone opens Manage › Choristers and Staff to read it. Your choir may also have given this work to a role of its own.
How to
Know what each status does
- Prospective (Candidate, Auditioning or Onboarding) and On leave: they still sign in, keep their roles and open the music. They get no announcements and no notices of new events, surveys or articles, aren't in the Community or the chat, aren't expected at events, and owe no dues. A member back from leave finds the chat's history intact.
- Active: all of the above. Only active members get the choir's announcements.
- Alumni (left on good terms) and Archived (removed from the roster): they can no longer open the choir in Tounes, and can't be invited.
You pick a new member's status when you add them. It starts at Active; pick Candidate for someone who hasn't joined yet, and set them to Active once they sing with you. Nobody is added as Alumni or Archived.
Change a status
- In Manage › Choristers and Staff, open the member.
- Under Membership, tap Edit, pick the Status, and save.
- If the choir uses dues, a move to Active puts the member on the open periods, and a move away applies the choir's choice for members who leave (see Run a dues season).
- A move to Alumni or Archived ends their positions the same day.
- Tounes refuses to make the last person with full access Alumni or Archived. On leave is allowed.
Mark someone as staff
- For an accompanist or a director who doesn't sing, open Membership › Edit and turn on Staff member (not a singer).
- Staff keep their status, sign in and get announcements, unless one is sent without staff. They aren't counted in attendance, dues or practice stats, and aren't notified of new events, surveys or articles.
Find members by status
- The list opens on Active members. Use the status filter at the top, or All statuses, to see the others.
- Open a member: their History lists each change, who made it and when, if your role can see it.
In the app
One member: their details, section, voice part, roles and status.
