Send announcements

An announcement is a short message that lands in members' notifications: a change of room, a reminder to bring the black folder. Members can't reply to it. For a conversation, an article or the newsletter, see Announcements, chat, articles or newsletter?
Who can do it
The Director and the Tenant Admin send to the whole choir, any section or any group, in Manage › Announcements. Both roles can see members' personal information, so Tounes asks you to Confirm it's you before Manage opens.
A Section Leader sends to their own section, and a Group Leader to their own group. They see only the announcements sent to their section or group.
Your choir may also have its own roles, under other names, that allow the same. Announcements need no feature.
How to
Send an announcement
- In Manage › Announcements, tap New announcement.
- Type a Title (required) and, if you like, a Message.
- Choose who it goes to: Whole choir, a Section or a Group. A section or group leader doesn't choose: their own section or group is already picked.
- For the whole choir, Include staff is on: accompanists and other staff get it too. Switch it off to leave them out. A section or group announcement always includes staff.
- Tap Send. "Announcement sent" confirms it.
Who receives it
- The active members of the audience get it, never you, the sender.
- Prospective members, members on leave and members who have left don't get it. A new member is added as active unless whoever added them picked a prospective status, such as Candidate: they get nothing until someone marks them active (see Member statuses).
- Each member finds it in Notifications. A member who switched off Announcements in their notification settings still gets it there, without the alert on their phone.
Look back at what was sent
- Manage › Announcements lists every announcement, newest first.
- Open one to see its message, who it went to and when it was sent.
- An announcement can't be edited, recalled or deleted once sent. To correct one, send another.
On the web and in the apps
On a phone with the Tounes app, members who allowed notifications get the announcement as an alert. On the web there is no alert: the announcement waits in Notifications the next time they open Tounes.
In the app
Announcements sent to the choir, a section or a group. A new one reaches its active members as a notification. Section and group leaders send to their own.
One announcement: its message, who it went to and when.
