Who can do it

  • Manage › Songs: the Director, the Librarian and the Tenant Admin. They add, edit and delete songs and their files.
  • Manage › Playlists: the Director and the Tenant Admin. The Librarian doesn't build playlists.

Your choir may also have its own roles, under other names, that allow this. The Director and the Tenant Admin can also change members' records, so Tounes asks them to Confirm it's you before Manage opens (see Confirm it's you).

Members only reach a song through a playlist: a song in no permanent playlist and in no playlist of an event still to come is not in their Current repertoire. A playlist kept for a group counts only for that group's members.

How to

Add a song

  1. In Manage › Songs, tap New song: its title and, if you have them, the composer, arranger, lyricist and artist. Tap Create.
  2. To change them later, tap Edit on Details.
  3. In the song's More menu, tap Generate cover for a cover image, or Delete song: the song and its files are removed.

Add its files

  1. Under Files, tap Upload and pick the practice tracks, score PDFs and lyrics. Tounes reads each file name and ties a track to the voice part it names: "Amazing Grace - Tenor 1.mp3" goes to Tenor 1.
  2. Tap a file to organize it: its title, its Audience (Whole choir, voice parts, sections or people) and whether it is the Primary score PDF. A track tied to a voice part is the one Play Your Part plays for that part.
  3. Tap Add link for a YouTube video or a document hosted elsewhere.
  4. To upload a new version of a file, use Replace file…: it keeps its place and its settings. If members marked up that score, Tounes says how many, and each of them is asked to keep or clear their marks.
  5. To give a singer another part for this song only, open Voice parts for this song, tap Assign a part, pick the singers, then the part. Back to the usual part undoes it.
  6. With a score PDF and a Piano track, Tounes maps the bars: see Go to a bar.

Build a choir playlist

  1. In Manage › Playlists, tap Add playlist. Give it a Title and choose Permanent or event:

    • Permanent: it stays in members' Library, such as a Classics list;
    • an event: a rehearsal, intensive or workshop still to come puts it under members' Homework; any other event, under Choir playlists. Once the event is over, it leaves the Music tab and stays on the event;
    • None: it shows under Choir playlists.

    To keep it for one group, such as a chamber ensemble, pick it under Group: only that group's members then see the playlist, in Music, on Home and on the event, and its songs count in their repertoire only. People who can edit playlists still see it. Leave Whole choir for everyone.

    Tap Save. You can change all of this later with Edit on Details.

  2. Under Songs, tap Edit, then Add songs: pick as many as you need and add them.

  3. Drag a song by its handle to reorder (on a phone or tablet, you can also press and hold the row). Remove the ones you don't want.

  4. On a song, Add practice note (In full, By heart, up to a letter, up to a bar, or free text) or Set the speed members start it at, then tap Done. Members see the note on the song and on Home.

  5. Tap Save: the songs, their order, notes and speeds are saved together.

  6. Deleting a playlist hides it from members' Music tab. Its songs stay in the library.

  7. A playlist kept for a group shows the group's name in the list and on Details. If that group is deleted, it reads A deleted group: no member sees the playlist until you pick another group or Whole choir. The newsletter never lists a group's playlist.

You can also edit a rehearsal's playlist from the event itself (see Prepare a rehearsal or concert).

In the app

The choir's song library. Add a song, then attach its practice tracks, one per voice part, and its scores.

One song: edit its details and manage its files. Each practice track is tied to a voice part, so members hear their own part.

The choir's playlists. Build one for a rehearsal or a concert, or keep a permanent one; members see it in their Music tab, or only a group's members when you keep it for that group.

One playlist: add songs, put them in order, link it to an event or make it permanent, and pick a group to show it only to that group's members.
