Write the newsletter

On this page
Tounes builds each issue of the newsletter from what is already in the app: the rehearsals and activities on the calendar and the articles published in Resources. It gives you a PDF and a file for the choir's old app. Tounes doesn't send the newsletter: you download the PDF and share it the way your choir always has.
The newsletter builder is made for Tounes' founding choir and its Info-CGDM: the header, the PDF's name, the song links to membres.cgdm.org and the file for the old app are that choir's. Other choirs don't have it: Manage › Newsletter doesn't show for them. To send the choir a round-up, use an announcement or an article.
Who can do it
The Director and the Tenant Admin build the newsletter, in Manage › Newsletter. Both roles can see members' personal information, so Tounes asks you to Confirm it's you before Manage opens. Your choir may also have its own roles, under other names, that allow the same.
It needs the Newsletter feature, which only the founding choir holds.
How to
Start an edition
- In Manage › Newsletter, tap New edition. It is dated for the coming Wednesday and suggests the rehearsals of the next four weeks, the activities of the next three months and the news articles still published. Whole-choir items start switched on; the others are suggested switched off.
- Under Issue, tap Edit to change the Issue date, Events until (the last day for rehearsals), the Title, Tagline and Season, and the Website, Facebook and Instagram links. Each new edition copies the header of your latest one.
Choose what goes in
- Under Rehearsals and Upcoming activities, switch each event on or off.
- Under an included rehearsal, its homework songs are listed. Tap a song to add its link; Tounes remembers it for every edition. A playlist kept for one group is left out: the newsletter goes to the whole choir.
- Under A bit of everything, switch each article on or off, and tick Full page in the PDF for one that needs the room.
- Tap Add a card for something that is not in the app yet: a Title and a Text (markdown). The icon, image, button and Highlight in the app only show in the old app. Use Move up and Move down to set the order.
- Added an event or published an article since? Tap Refresh suggestions: it adds what is new and never changes or removes what you already chose.
Preview, generate and download
- Tap Preview to see the PDF and the App JSON. Tounes says whether the old app will accept the file, and lists what to fix if not.
- Tap Generate. "Version 1 generated." The edition is now marked Generated.
- Under Generated versions, tap Download the PDF or Download the JSON.
- Spotted a mistake after generating? Fix it and tap Generate again: it makes a new version, and the earlier ones stay in the list.
- Delete draft, in the More menu, only works for an edition never generated. A generated edition is kept as the record of what was sent.
On the web and in the apps
On a computer, Download the PDF opens a new browser tab that saves the file to your downloads. A strict pop-up blocker can stop it. In the iPhone and Android apps, the file is handed to your phone's browser, which saves it.
In the app
The choir's newsletter editions. Pick the rehearsals, activities and articles of an issue, preview it, and generate the PDF and the file for the old app.
One edition: what goes in it, the preview, and every version generated so far.
