Director

The Director role is for the music director, and often the assistant director. It opens almost all of Manage: the music, the events and attendance, the members, the sections and groups, the news you send and the choir's settings. Who holds which role, the dues and the members' status history stay with the Tenant Admin.

Who can do it

A Tenant Admin gives the role, in Manage › Roles: open Director, then Add members. If your choir has an Artistic Director position, the Tenant Admin can link it to the role so it follows the term. When your choir starts on Tounes, the person who set it up usually holds Director together with Tenant Admin.

Director is a built-in role: its permissions are set by the app. Your choir may also have made its own roles, under other names.

How to

Open Manage

  1. Open Manage. Your role can change members' records, so Tounes asks you to Confirm it's you first: see Confirm it's you.
  2. Manage stays open while you use it. After 30 minutes without using it, Tounes asks again. The rest of the app never asks.

What you can do there

  1. Add and edit songs, their tracks and scores, and build playlists: see Manage songs and playlists.
  2. Plan events and venues, and take attendance for everyone: see Plan events and venues and Take attendance.
  3. Send announcements, and in the founding choir write the newsletter: see Send announcements and Write the newsletter.
  4. Add members, send their invitations, edit their details and change their status: see Members and invitations.
  5. Set up sections, voice parts and groups, and name section and group leaders: see Sections and voice parts and Groups.
  6. Run surveys, tasks, articles, the document library, rides and rooms, and read the attendance and practice figures, each when the feature is on for your choir.
  7. Moderate every channel in Messages: see Chat.
  8. Switch features on or off in Manage › Settings: see Manage and choir settings.
  9. Create positions in Manage › Positions, and assign people to the ones that grant no role: see Roles and positions.

What it can't do

  1. Give or take back roles. Manage › Roles shows you the roles and who holds them, without Add members. Ask a Tenant Admin.
  2. Link a position to a role, or start or end a term on a position that is linked to one. The app doesn't offer these to you: a Tenant Admin does it. The split is deliberate: the Director runs the music and the members, the Tenant Admin decides who holds which powers.
  3. Open the dues. That is the Treasurer's, or the Tenant Admin's.
  4. Read a member's status history or emergency contacts, or remove someone's passkeys, unless a Tenant Admin gives you a role that allows it.
